PLACEMENTS PROGRAM 2008 - Placement Process
• RECRUITERS
o Basic Principles and Policies
- Recruiters must honor all job offers made through the Career
Services Office. We deem withdrawal of an offer made by a recruiter,
as clearly unethical behavior.
- All correspondence relating to the students’ placements
must be routed only through the Career Services Office.
o Intent to Hire
- Recruiters must fill-in and mail to the Career Services Office
the “Intent to hire” form, confirming their participation
in the placement program 2008.
o Corporate Presentations (PPT)
- By September 1, 2008, recruiters should conduct
a PPT to enhance the company’s brand image and help students
to understand what career opportunities are being offered so that
students are encouraged to apply after clearly understanding the
position, role and associated responsibilities.
- If necessary, PPTs can be conducted concurrently with interview
sessions.
- Both campuses are fully equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual
facilities such as Video Conferencing, LCD & overhead projectors
(OHP), TV/VCR, etc.
- Recruiters must contact the Career Services Office well in
advance, to ensure that the PPT is scheduled by mutual convenience.
o Job postings
- By September 20, 2008, recruiters must post their jobs (vacant
positions) specifying, for each job, a detailed position description
and the ideal candidate profile.
o Submission of resumes
- By September 25, 2008, interested students will apply.
o Short-listing
- By September 30, 2008, recruiters must formally confirm their
short-list of students whom they intend to interview, to the Career
Services Office.
o Interviews
- Will be scheduled simultaneously at both campuses from November
10, 2008.
- Students from the respective specializations are available for
interviewing at the following campuses, as follows:
- SINGAPORE
- Investment Banking
- Wealth Management
- Banking Management
- Information Technology Management
- DUBAI
- Retail Management
- Product Marketing and Management
- Services Marketing and Management
- Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management
- Global Human Resources Management
- Recruiters may interview short-listed students:
- By visiting either, or both, campuses
- At their own office location (All expenses towards the students’
international travel and related incidentals will be chargeable
to the company)
- By Video-conferencing, and/or
- By Telephone
o Offer making
- Recruiters must formally confirm their selections by filling-in
and handing over an OFFERS CONFIRMATION form to the Career Services
Office, immediately after the interviews are completed.
- A job offer is treated as VALID only if the following details
are clearly spelt out in the letter of offer:
- Job title/designation/role
- Compensation (annual cost-to-company)
- Recruiters must mail/courier/fax their formal letters of offer
to the Career Services Office within 7 days of
the final interviews, but not later than November 15, 2008.
• STUDENTS
o Basic Principles and Policies
- Only students who have secured a CGPA of 3.0 or better are eligible
for placements.
- Must honor all job offers made through SPJCM’s placement
program. We deem reneging on an offer accepted by a student, as
clearly unethical behavior.
- If a student does not join a company after formally accepting
the recruiter’s job offer, SPJCM has the right to withdraw
the Global MBA certificate awarded.
- All students eligible for placements must execute a ‘Memorandum
of Understanding’ through the Career Services Office, confirming
that they will:
- Respect the rights and obligations of their fellow students.
- Not misrepresent, fabricate or plagiarize any facts about
his/her candidature to any recruiter.
- Not seek, receive or obtain any unfair advantage over other
students.
- Not renege on an ‘accepted’ job offer.
o Placement Process
- Every student is primarily responsible to secure his/her own
placement. By virtue of being admitted into the Global MBA program,
the Career Services Office will assist eligible students by:
- Training them to develop their knowledge, skills and competencies
to present themselves well and face interviews successfully.
- Identifying recruiters who are likely to consider them, based
on their staffing needs (job descriptions and ideal candidate
profiles) and inviting them to recruit from SPJCM.
- Matching recruiters’ staffing needs with students’
backgrounds, to ensure appropriate skill-matches.
- Offering appropriate students resumes to recruiters.
- Scheduling interviews.
- Following up with recruiters on their selections & offers.
- Following up with students to ensure adherence with the recruiter’s
deadlines for offer acceptances.
- Students
- Are permitted to interview only with companies which short-list
them.
- RECEIVE and ACCEPT only ONE offer, after which they will
automatically exit from the placement process.
- Will not be permitted to attend any other interview through
the Career Services Office, if they reject an offer made by
a recruiter if they have initially expressed their interest
in the position announced.
- Must obtain ALL clarifications relating to the offer directly
from the recruiter, before accepting an offer. The Career Services
Office will try to help but the onus is clearly on the student
to obtain these clarifications, well in time.
- Must adhere to the recruiter’s deadline to accept a
job offer and submit their acceptances ONLY through the Career
Services Office.
- Must complete the Capstone project and submit the dissertation
to SPJCM latest by December 25, 2008. This is an academic requirement.
Thus, selected students can carry out their Capstone project in
the company where they have been placed and can formally join
there on or after January 1, 2009.
