Looking at the trend I think India really is poised for change. We need to keep in mind that India has tremendous opportunities to become a super economic power with Gen X and Gen Y taking over responsibility for achieving this task. The workplace of 2020 will be an exciting one, filled with changes specifically designed to benefit the future employee.

The 2020 workplace will start by building the teams, both inside and outside the organisation, with leading-edge people, who love leading-edge technology and who thrive on leading-edge principles and thinking. Information will move incredibly faster; expect outsourcing of HR duties to rise; expect the administrators of tomorrow to become increasingly complex and specialised. To do their job, administrative professionals will rely on a variety of sophisticated skills and disciplines

Give them cutting-edge technology; Design rewards and incentives with immediate payout;

Give them frequent feedback. Some experts assert that ‘Yers’ reinforce at a rate that is 50-100 times greater than boomers;

Provide flexibility in their work. They want a say in everything from benefits to scheduling to the option of telecommuting. Generation Y expects work to accommodate their personal and family life; Manage by getting involved. Managing from behind a desk will be most ineffective with Yers. They want to see managers roll up their sleeves and get in the trenches.
